Darwin International Airport is the tenth busiest airport in Australia and is the only airport of Darwin. Located at the Northern Territory’s northern suburbs, the airport is thirteen kilometers form the Darwin city centre in the suburban Marrara.

The airport shares runways with the Royal Australian Air Force’s RAAF Base Darwin. Darwin International Airport has a domestic terminal, an international terminal and a cargo terminal. The passenger terminals have a variety of cafeterias and shops.

Currently, Darwin Airport has one terminal for both international and domestic flights. The terminal has duty-free shopping available for international travelers. Flights are scheduled to Northern Territory destinations, all Australia mainland capital cities except for Hobart and Canberra, and flights to Cairns, Broome as well as international flights to Singapore, East Timor and Bali. This airport is an emergency landing venue for the Space Shuttle.

Commercial aircrafts at Darwin International Airport include the Airbus A319, A320 and the A330. The Boeing 717, 737, 767 and the 747 among others are found here as well. Jetstar Airways which is an Australian low cost carrier is interested in developing Darwin Airport as a hub to its Asian destinations.
