Davie Village is the neighborhood in the West of Vancouver which is based around Davie Street between Burrard and Jervis, an area around 4 square blocks. Known primarily as the city’s gay neighborhood, visitors will find Davie Village awash in brightly colored storefronts and bus stops, decorated with the rainbow colors of gay pride. The area took on the name of Davie Village in 1999 and features a gay and lesbian community center called Qmunity. The Vancouver Pride Society launches the annual Gay Pride Parade and Festival from this neighborhood. The Davie Street Pride Festival also takes place here every year, with the area closed to traffic.
