The Dayton Art Institute is located at 456 Belmonte Park North, in Dayton, Ohio. Originally founded as the Dayton Museum of Fine Arts in 1919, located in a mansion near the center of town, the museum was relocated in 1930 to its present building, which is an imitation/hybrid of two famous Italian villas in Florence and Rome. The name was changed to its present form in recognition of the prominence which the art school came to acquire, in addition to the obvious prominence of the museum itself.

The museum has a collection of over 20,000 works of art taken from over 5,000 years of human history. The permanent highlights of the museum include its Asian collection, its American works from the 18th and 19th centuries, a contemporary collection, and the Baroque works of the 17th century.

Closed on Mondays, the museum has varying hours for the rest of the days of the week. Furthermore, ticket prices depend on which exhibits and/or special events a visitor will be seeing, and there are special rates for online purchases. Visit the Dayton Art Institute's website at http://www.daytonartinstitute.org/ for more information.
