De Anza College, a community college in Cupertino, was founded in 1967 on the grounds of the Beaulieu vineyard. With an annual enrollment of around 25,000 students, it is one of the most attended single-campus community colleges in the U.S. De Anza’s most famous alumnus is Steve Jobs of Apple and Cupertino, some 45 miles south of San Francisco in Silicon Valley, is home to Apple, Inc.

De Anza College’s academic programs range from general education and vocational courses to interdisciplinary studies and internships. Students have one of the highest rates for transferring to the state’s lauded UC system and also its state schools. The two-year programs seek to give students the basis to move to an even better learning facility to complete the degree coursework. The Business, Biology and Humanities departments are the backbone of De Anza.

The Fujitsu Planetarium on campus offers astronomy shows to the public on Saturday evenings. From 5 to 7 pm, astronomy shows take place on the hour (Tickets are $8 adults, $6 children 12 and under). At 9 and 10 pm, laser light shows featuring music by bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are given (tickets $9 adults, $7 children 12 and under). Parking permits are available in the student lots ($2).
