De Barajas

The De Barajas is a district in the municipality of Amsterdam in the Dutch province of Noord, Holland.
The district has around 33,847 people who live in the area and an area of 1.64 km ².
The name of the city district De Barajas comes from the former hamlet of the De Barajas. This was the Kostverlorenvaart which is near the Cradle Bridge. The Slatuinenweg is a remnant of this neighborhood in the old town Looks. The environment was characterized by market gardens in the Barajas Polder which is a part of the Sloterpolder.
The construction of residential areas west of the Kostverlorenvaart started after the introduction of the tram line Amsterdam - Haarlem - Zandvoort in 1904. In the ESM which later became NZH.
