De Tongelreep

De Tongelreep is the largest swimming arena from Eindhoven, Netherlands.

The swimming center was built forty years ago, at the early sixties and in the eighties in went trough a true metamorphosis, when came a new wave of attendance which grew to about one million per year. Through this, Tongelreep was the biggest attraction in Brabant, Eindhoven. Here trained the famous Olympic champions Pieter Van Den Hoogeband and Inge de Bruijn. After their success at Sidney in 2004 began the discussion about the renovation of the existing 50 meter pool and in 2004 the renovation was finished.

Today, National Swimming Center Tongelreep is unique in the Netherlands and comprises: a wave pool, a 50 meter competition pool, a 25 meter diving pool and a 4-lane training pool. This makes the possibilities very diverse, from swimming to swimming lessons and recreational swim club. The wave of the National Swimming Center Tongelreep is the perfect location for an exciting and yet relaxing day out. Tourists can dream away in a relaxbad or with a good book on the lawn to the pool.

The competition swimming arena is called after Pieter Van De Hoggeband, and it consists of the 50 meter competition pool, the 25 meter diving pool and the 4-lane training pool. The 4-lane training pool is even equipped with a so-called vision training system. This system created by means of thirteen cameras and extensive analysis of swimmers is unique in Europe.

From The main NS railway train station bus lines 17,407 and 408 take the tourists directly to DeTongelreep.
