Housed within the Papago Park that strides the border between Tempe and Phoenix, Arizona, the Desert Botanical Garden is located at 1201 North Galvin Parkway. The gardens occupy a plot of 140 acres of land, being operated and owned by the Arizona Cactus and Native Flora Society which established the gardens in 1937. There are over 21,000 plants representing species of plant from many different continents and climates, with some 139 rare species included.

The Desert Botanical Garden has varying seasonal hours of operation: from June through September, it is open from 7am-8pm; from October through May, it is open from 8am-8pm. Admission is set at $15 for adults, $7.50 for students with ID, and $5 for children from 3-12 years of age; however, on the second Tuesday of each month between 1pm and 8pm.
