The Deshler-Morris House in historic Germantown was once home to President George Washington and his cabinet when they escaped the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793. The house was built in 1772 and was also home at one time or another to notable personalities such as British General Sir William howe and Colonel Issac Franks. President Washington conducted so much official business in the house that it was often referred to the “Germantown White House”.

The Deshler-Morris House is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and admission in free. For directions to the house and more information, visit http://www.nps.gov/demo/index.htm.
