Cologne Deutz often just Deutz is a former town that is presently a borough of Cologne, Germany.
Deutz was an important centre of learning in medieval area of Germany. In the early part of the Middle Ages it was known by the Latin name DaVita from the 10th century as Tritium. It was located on the right bank of the Rheine River which was opposite Cologne which grew up on the left bank. The important abbey is also home to many influential theologians such as Rupert of Deutz.
Deutz was formally incorporated into Cologne area in 1888. Modern Deutz is part of the Cologne city centre on the right bank of the river. Politically it is part of the administrative district Innenstadt.
