Established in 1922, the Dickerson Park Zoo is a public zoo located on the south side of Dickerson Park in Springfield, Missouri. The zoo, which had experienced a drastic decline by 1975, underwent a 10-year reformation, and by 1985 was reoriented towards increased involvement in a number of Species Survival Plans. Notable amongst these plans was the success of their Asian elephant, maned wolf, and cheetah programs.

Today the Dickerson Park Zoo boasts over 450 animals representing more than 160 species, and a multitude of educational programs and special events. Especially popular amongst the exhibits are the Baringo Giraffe exhibition and the cheetah habitat. Also popular is the Dickerson Park Zoo Feast with the Beasts program, which invites visitors to have breakfast with the animals on designated Saturdays.

The Dickerson Park Zoo is located at 1401 West Norton Road in Springfield, Missouri. Hours of operation are from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. daily, with admission ranging from $3 to $7, and seniors, students, and children receiving discounted admission. On-site parking is available to visitors free of charge.
