DierenPark Amersfoort is a zoo located on the West side of Amersfoort, on the edge of Birkhoven in the province of Utrecht in the central Netherlands.

The zoo was founded immediately after World War II, on 22 May 1948. In the beginning it was a very small zoo with a monkey, a bear, a camel and some farm animals. In the years afterwards the first carnivore arrived, and in 1956 two elephants, Indra and Rani were welcomed. In 1960, one of the zoo's founder’s daughters and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Vis-Tertoolen took over the management of the zoo. In the same year the first chimpanzees arrived. In 1979, two rare white lions were born. In 1982 cheetahs started to breed in captivity and seven more were born. In 1988, the park developed a savannah area and "De Ark van Amersfoort" or Amersfoort's Arch was opened.
A modern zoo as it is offers facilities: parking places, toilets, gift shops, The elephant park restaurant, snack bar- Grand Café De Berenhof and also facilities for the disabled.

The zoo currently has an area of almost 10 hectares. There are more than hundred different kinds of animals and about 650.000 visitors a year pass through its gates.
Meetings, wedding receptions and theme parties are also able to be held at the Amersfoort DierenPark.
Animal lovers can reach the park by bike (a very popular form of transport in Holland), by car, by public transport in 20 minutes or by taxi.
