Dinamo Stadium

The Dinamo Stadium is the home stadium of the football team FC Dinamo Bucharest, and is a multi-purpose stadium mostly used for football matches.

The stadium is pretty old, being built in 1952s and it had no floodlights until 2001. It has a capacity of 15300 seats and the owner is the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The former name was Stadionul Stefan cel Mare. A major renovation of the stadium began in 2006, raising the capacity of Tribune 2 stands and enlarging the VIP section, but the renovation has still not been completed due to lack of funding. Today exits some plans to build anew arena but progress is very slow-going due to the administrative problems.

The stadium is part of Dinamo sports complex, where is located another 2000 seats stadium named Florea Dumitrache, which is covered with artificial surface and a Velodrom. On Central stadium there is a running track where more competitions took place, but because of that, the spectators have poor visibility at football matches. Lawns where there is the Dinamo’s gallery was called Catalin Haldan, in honor of a former white-red midfielder, who died in 2000 on the playing field. Recently have been given for use a last generation table which cost about 400,000 Euros.

The Stadium can be easily reached using the Bucharest Subway, a metro station been placed at the stadium’s entrance or by tram, line 32 and 5 having stops at the stadium. It is not recommended to use the bus because the traffic is very congested and most of the buses don’t respect the timetables.
