Dinard Golf

Hotels near Dinard Golf, Saint-Malo, France .

Founded on the turn of the century by a small colony of British soldiers and their families, Dinard Golf was created to give the expat community and Emerald Coast residents a place to mix and mingle while playing their favorite sports. After creating France's first tennis club and developing sailing as a sport, the community commissioned Scottish architect Tom Dunn to design the area's first golf course. The 18-hole course, 17 km southwest of Saint Briac sur Mer, was completed in 1887, making it the second oldest in France. Each hole is affectionately named, with titles ranging from “the dog's paw” to “the complete disaster,” and although the course is not long, it is reputed to be deceivingly tricky with its bunkers, sand traps, steep greens and bushes. The club management takes an interest in its relationship with the local ecosystem, home to several varieties of rare orchids and migratory birds, and recycled gray-water is used to water the grounds. Prices range around 60€ or more in the mid-season. A panoramic clubhouse offers lessons, a shop and restaurant.
