The Doane Stuart School is another one of the rigorous college preparatory schools in the Albany, New York region. Established in the 1970s by merging a Catholic school and an Episcopal school, the current incarnation of the school is affiliated with the Episcopal church but emphasis teachings of tolerance and interfaith acceptance.

This private school has an incredibly low student-to-teacher ratio, with just under 300 students being taught by 40 teachers, keeping class sizes incredibly small and offering a great deal of individual attention. The school offers classes for students from grade school through high school, and hosts an Irish American Exchange program with students from Northern Ireland. Because the school's mission is college preparation, all students have extensive SAT preparation and guidance from college counselors on choosing the right university or college.

The school's location outside of the bustling center of Albany's downtown provides a great deal of green space for students to roam and lounge. A number of hotels are conveniently located close to the campus, including The Hilton Center The Rensselaer and The Howard Johnson Inn - Albany. A number of the city's prestigious downtown hotels are only a short drive as well.
