The Dolphin Stadium, which has undergone numerous name changes, and is now currently known as the LandShark Stadium, is located in Miami Gardens, Florida. A multi-use sports facility, the stadium has played host to numerous baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse games since its construction in 1985. The first NFL stadium financed privately in the US, the stadium's field was designed to be larger than normal, to accommodate soccer. Due to this, the closest, field-side seats are farther away than they usually would be at a football game. Both the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins have called the stadium home, and since their tenures, the stadium has seen numerous renovations. Notable updates include the 2006 installation of two hi-definition video boards, and expansion of the concourses on the north and south sides. The stadium has hosted four Super Bowls, as well as a number of Orange Bowls.
