Located in County Kildare, Ireland, the Donadea 9/11 Memorial is far from New York City, United States. However, a scale replica of the World Trade Center Twin Towers that were destroyed on that fateful day has been built here. It was unveiled to the world in 2003.

Carved from blocks of limestone, the memorial is dedicated to Sean Tallon, a Donadea firefighter who lost his life going up one of the towers that day, and to all who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.

The memorial was designed by Brian Swan, Senior Architect with Kildare County Council, and built by local stonemason and sculptor Bernard Groome. Upon the twin blocks of limestone are engraved the names of everyone from the New York Fire Department, police officers, and Port Authority officals who died in the Twin Towers.

The memorial is surrounded by native oak saplings, which are expected to grow and live for over 100 years.
