Dongdan is within the crossing of Chan’an Avenue and along Central Beijing. The station itself is an interchange between the Line 1 and Line 5 in the Beijing transit network. Within the premise, one can find the “Silver Street” located along the Dongdan North Street. It was known to be the silver street since it looked a little inferior next to the Wangfujing Street. Similar to Wangfujing, the area of Dongdan is also a hub to shops, businesses and restaurants.

Dongdan travels along Pingguoyuan, part of the western terminus. It is one of the important locations within the Shijingshan District in the Western Hills. The red line, as it is also called heads straight to its second stop in Gucheng Lu and stretches to Chaoyang District in Sihui East. It passes through other important commercial centers such as Beijing CBD and China World Trade Center.

Passengers along the Dongdan station can accessibly reach Oriental Plaza.
