Dongsi Station is along Line 5 of the Beijing Subway. Beijing subway serves both the urban and suburban districts within whole municipality. It has 123 stations, 8 lines and over 200 kilometers of tracks. The subway is considered as one of the busiest in the whole of mainland China. It is said that the transit service cannot almost cope the mass transit of the city.

Dongsi Station, specifically, is along the purple line which runs along the north-south route and within 27.6 kilometers. It travels vertically from the Tiantongyuan North to Songjiazhuang. Fully operating in October 2007, Line 5 passes through several shops, restaurants, hotels and parks. It takes as least 49 minutes to cover the whole station.

One of the nearest hostels to Dongsi metro station is the Hostelworld. Just a 2-minute walk from the area, the hostel is equipped with modern facilities and equipment that can cater to the busy lifestyle of guests and visitors.

Within the area of Dongsi is also the Dongsi Mosque. It is one of the very small yet modest mosques in the whole of Beijing. Its architectural design made it to be one of the most attractive neighbourhood temples in town.
