A visit to Oak Creek, Arizona, is a journey into the natural beauty of Oak Creek Canyon. Second only to the Grand Canyon as the state’s most popular attraction, Oak Canyon is also the location of the Village of Oak Creek, a small community with just over 5,000 permanent residents. Once known as Big Park, so-named during the time when pioneers were first settling the area, became the Village of Oak Creek in the 1960s. It is nestled into the Coconino National Forest, and surrounded by red-rock buttes and canyons. Visitors enjoy hiking the Canyon, especially the West Fork portion. Oak Creek is the location for the Verde Valley Music Festival held during the first week of each October. A popular resort and hotel district, the Village of Oak Creek and nearby Sedona offer fine accommodations like the Desert Quail Inn, the Hilton Sedona Resort, the Kokopelli Inn, the Canyon Villa Bed & Breakfast Inn of Sedona, Los Abrigados Resort & Spa, El Portal and the Wildflower Inn. While visiting be sure to hike or bike the Bell Rock Pathway, check out Courthouse Rock and Bell Rock- two of Sedona’s famous vortex energy spots, and see the Chapel of the Holy Cross- built in 1955.
