Dowth Megalithic Passage Tomb (also called Dowth the Fairy Mound of Darkness) is a Neolithic passage tomb located in County Meath, Ireland. The oldest of three passage tombs, all of which are tourist attractions, Dowth was built 5000 years ago and excavated in 1847.

At Dowth, there is a 295 foot by 49 foot manmade pile of stones, called a cairn, surrounded by kerbstones. From the western side of the mound are three stone-lined passages leading inside.
The longer passage and ends in a cross-shaped chamber with a lintelled roof. A single stone basin is on the floor. Following the right arm of the cross, one finds a long rectangular chamber with an L-shaped extension and a flagstone floor. Access to this tomb is restricted. The second and smaller tomb has a modern concrete roof and is surrounded by a kerbstone. An early medieval souterrain stands at the entrance to the passage of the cross-shaped tomb.

The sun's rays enter the chamber from October to February, with its rays traveling first over the sill stone, then entering the chamber and, finally, shining directly onto the stones at the back of the chamber.

Visitors have unrestricted access to Dowth; however, access to its southern chamber is limited, and available through deposit only. The northern passage and chamber and souterrains cannot be accessed by the public.

Accommodations near Dowth include Newgrange Lodge, a restored farmhouse with beautiful views of the three passage tombs, for about $100 USD per night; and Dalys Inn, a guest house also near the tombs for $59 USD per night.
