DSB Stadion

The DSB Stadion is located in the Dutch city Alkmaar.

This is multi purpose stadium but is used mostly for football matches, being the home stadium of AZ Alkmaar football team. The Stadium was officially opened on 4 August 2006 with a friendly match against Arsenal football team and it’s able to hold 17023 people. The DSB Stadium had replaced the Alkmaarder Hout, the club’s former ground. The stand with the fanatic supporters is called Van der Ben Tribune (Ben-Side), the main stand is called Victorie Tribune, the stand behind the other goal is called Westzijde and the stand opposite to the main stand is called Molenaar Tribune. Thought the official name is DSB Stadion, some supporters call it Victorie Stadion, a name related to a victory over Spain during the Eighty Years' War.

The AZ Board decided to extend the capacity of the new stadium to minimum 30,000 seats basing on the further grow of the club’s budget. The main stand will remain in place with all technical areas, VIP & sponsor and media facilities, the extension been released to construct a 2nd tier to three of the four stands. The construction is started to begin in the 3rd quarter of 2010 so that the stadium to be ready in time for the 2011-2012 season.

The best way to reach the stadium is by car because there is very limited public transport between Alkmaar train station and DSB Stadion.
