The world’s largest shopping mall, the Dubai Mall ranks six largest among lease-able areas as well. Par of the Burj Dubai, this twenty-billion project can be accessed via Doha Street which has since been renovated as a double-decker street in 2009.

With its opening twice delayed, the mall finally opened on November 4, 2008 featuring six hundred different retailers, making history as the world’s largest mall opening ever. In lease-able space, this mall is outranked by the South China Mall, SM City North Edsa in Manila, Golden Resources mall and the SM Mall of Asia located in the Philippines.

Containing more than 1,200 shops, the Dubai Mall is anchored by Debenhams, Galeries Lafayette, Mark’s and Spencer and Bloomingdale’s. Reel cinemas open in 2009 at the mall’s second floor. This is a twenty-two screen megaplex with over 2,800 seats. At the moment, only ten screens are open while the rest will be opened late this year.

Nearby attractions include the Desert Safari Dubai, the Seawings Dubai, Ibn Battuta Mall, The Tower of Arabs Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach and Park, Jumeirah Mosque, Ski Dubai and the Aquaventure Water Park.
