Ducal Palace, or “Palazzo Ducale,” is located in the center of Genova, Italy, dividing the Piazza de Ferrari and Piazza Matteotti. Built in the 1270s, the “Palace of the Doges” was modified many times over the years, and was refurbished in 1992.

Today, this palace is famous for important art exhibitions in the beautiful rooms of the palace, and meetings of world leaders. The G8 Summit took place here in 2001, where leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom and United States met.

The general public can visit the palace every day from 9 a.m to 7 p.m., and view exhibitions with an admission charge. They can also partake of the palace's bar, libraries and shop.

Getting to the Palazzo Ducale is easy. Since it is in Genova's city center, it can be reached quite easily by bus from the
Genova Brignole and Genova Principe railway stations (Piazza De Ferrari stop).

Accommodations in the area include the Starhotels President, located in the “Corte Lambruschini” Business District, opposite the Brignole train station, overlooking the gardens of Piazza Verdi.
