Duden Park
Duden Park is a park in Brussels, Belgium of approximately 24 hectares, located in the town of Forest, on the right flank of the valley of the Seine south of Park Forest. Its terrain is varied: its highest point is 90 m and its lowest point at 55 m. One can see a panorama of the urban center of the Belgian capital.
Duden Park is located on the right side of the valley of the Seine, much steeper than the other side. This gives the park its vigorous relief and even rough in places. Apart from the northern side of the park with large lawns to highlight the view, most of the Duden Park is a high cluster of trees with a 'natural' reminiscent of the forest Soignes. There is also a dense undergrowth of maple and ash trees or ferns rare in the urban spaces and some trees by their exceptional nature or size, including a beech whose circumference reaches five meters. From a geological point of view, the park, which is facing some erosion problems, is mounted between two sites: the edge is located on the laekenien, while the western part of Ypresian is composed of fine sand where it is not unusual to find fossil Nummulites, sharks teeth or fragments of oyster shells.
The nearby Forest Park has a great panorama from the west to the north where 10 church towers can been, this spot being an observation post between the fourteenth and eighteenth century.
It isn’t rich in recreation attractions but the park has a football playground as well as a lot of space for walking in the natural surroundings.
The park houses a former palace of the Royal Trust, which now houses a portion of the premises and facilities of the HELB-INRACI and NARAFI, the two oldest film schools in Belgium.
