Home to the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, the Dumbarton House is a gorgeous Adamesque early-Republic style house located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., at 2715 Q Street NW. Having originally been built in or around 1800 and serving as the home of the US's first Register of the Treasury (who served under the first six presidents of the country), Joseph Nourse, the house was purchased by the society mentioned above in 1928, fully restored, and opened to the public as a sort of living-museum in 1932.

The Dumbarton House is not only an architectural landmark within the city of Washington, D.C., it also has an outstanding collection of Federal era furniture and other home items. The museum is open to tours for the general public and school groups, and also hosts a variety of lectures and other special events during the year; the outdoor gardens and the main Belle Vue Room are both available for rental for special events.

The cost of admission at the Dumbarton House is $5 for adults, while students with ID and children are admitted free of charge. The hours of operation vary, however groups should plan on arriving between 10am and 1pm from Tuesday through Saturday, when tour groups start up at a quarter after the hour.
