Located near the town of Dunsany in County Meath, Ireland, Dunsany Castle was built in 1180 as a Norman castle, and today is the oldest home in Ireland that has been continuously occupied (by the Cussack family and their relatives, the Plunketts).

Once quite large, Dunsany Castle has a demesne surrounding it. The demesne is bordered by a drystone wall, and holds the Church of St. Nicholas, a walled garden, an icehouse, land, and other structures.

Today, the Plunkett family still live on at Dunsany, which also hosts the Dunsany Home Collection and its Boutique. The Dunsany Home Collection sells household gifts, table settings, delph, cutlery, table linens, lamps, vases and artificial flowers. A bookstore is also on the premises.

The castle is open during the summer, Christmas, and other times for visits and tours. To find out when you can visit and the fees, you must email the castle staff at office@dunsany.com.
