Dwight Amtrak Station

Hotels near Dwight Amtrak Station, Dwight, United States .

Located in the small Illinois town of Dwight, the Dwight Amtrak Station dates back to 1891. It was built by the Chicago and Alton Railroad and architect Henry Ives Cobb, dubbed the Dwight railroad depot at the time. The building of the Dwight Amtrak Station is on the National Register of Historic Places, largely because of its style of rusticated masonry.

Though railway travel in the United States has diminished since the station’s 1890s beginnings, it continues to serve as a stop on the Amtrak passenger line between Chicago and Saint Louis.

Dwight is not necessarily the most obvious tourism city, but it is the home of several important structures including a bank designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and a historic U.S. Route 66 Texaco gas station. Dwight Amtrak Station is located in a quaint town that may be a perfect and surprising escape.
