Eads Bridge

Hotels near Eads Bridge, Saint Louis, United States .

Eads Bridge crosses the Mississippi River and connects St. Louis and East St. Louis, Missouri. Its name pays homage to James B. Eads. The bridge, which measures 6,442 feet across, was constructed in 1874, and at the time it was the longest arch bridge in existence in the world. While today that is no longer the case, the Eads Bridge remains one of St. Louis' most famous and memorable structures. It is composed of ribbed steel arches, and at the time of its completion, its structure marked a historical shift to using steel in a new way in bridge construction. The historical and symbolic Eads Bridge remains in use today.
