Also known as the East Martello Tower, the East Martello Museum and Gallery is one of the best preserved examples of Martello style military architecture in the United States. It was placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1972, despite the fact that it was never completed (nor did it ever see any hostile action). East Martello Tower is a shining example of Civil War era military engineering, a reflection of the time in which it was built.

Today, the tower is the home of a vast collection of Key West art and memorabilia. Exhibits include early settlement, Cuban influence and military influence. One of the biggest attractions at the tower are the gardens, which include an 80-year-old playhouse.

The East Martello Museum and Gallery is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children and students and $5.00 for seniors. For more information, check out www.kwahs.com.
