The East Village Arts District of Long Beach is the eastern half of the downtown section of the city, roughly spanning Ocean Blvd to 7th Street (north to south) and Long Beach Blvd to Alamitos Ave, from east to west. Named after New York’s famed arts community, the Long Beach East Village is the center of the local arts community. The neighborhood has many lofts and apartment building which house artists, as well as a number of galleries, tattoo parlors, cafes and small music venues.

Some notable buildings in the district include the Breakers Hotel, an Art Deco specimen dating back to 1926, the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, the Museum of Latin American Art and the Oceanic Art Museum. Visitors are encouraged to visit on the second Saturday of every month, when studio artists open their doors to the public and special events are held in the streets and at different venues.
