Situated on the Brazilian side of the Tri-Border Area, in Foz do Iguaçu, the Eco Museum is located adjacent to the famous Itaipu Dam. The Dam, which provides 20% of the electrical needs of Brazil, was completed on the River Parana in 1984 and is the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world. The Eco Museum is operated by the Itaipu Binacional, which also operates the Dam itself.

The Eco Museum is located approximately ten miles outside of central Foz do Iguaçu, on the Rodavia das Cataratas, at Avenida Tancredo Neves 6001, and features a multitude of plant and rock specimens from the region. Exhibitions include the Water Awareness – The Dimensions of Water, which documents the 10 articles of the Universal Declaration of Water Rights, and the Cultivating Good Water Program, which examines sustainability issues as they relate to water.

Operating hours are Tuesday through Sundays, from 8:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. Admission to the Eco Museum ranges from 4 Real to 8 Real, with children and students receiving special discounts. Combination packages are available for visitors who wish to tour the Itaipu Dam as well as the Eco Museum.
