The Edison and Ford Winter Estates, located at 2350 McGregor Boulevard in sunny Ft. Myers, Florida, features lovely estate buildings and well-manicured gardens and lawns. Mrs. Thomas Edison gave the estate to the city in 1947, with the Ford estate being purchased and opened to the public in 1990. The museum houses hundreds of historical inventions by Edison and Ford, with special events, videos, and exhibits available on a rotation basis. Special programs include the Antique Car Shows, Art Shows, Book Signings, Holiday Nights, and Edison's and Ford's birthday celebrations. The gardens lay on 20 acres of land, and include 500 plants, flowers, and trees.

This historic estate is visited by over 225,000 people per year, and tours of the grounds are available daily at 11, 1, and 3, with self-guided tours of the homes, gardens, museum, and laboratory available during operation hours of 9:30 am-5 pm. The estate is open daily year-round, except on Christmas and Thanksgiving.
