The actual structure of the museum is worth a look. The Railway Museum sits in a former railway depot built during World War I. The collection within the museum holds some 180 vehicles. Information provided lends an overview of the development of German locomotives and carriages from as far back as 1853 to present day. Aside from locomotives, the Railway Museum holds several preserved coaches and freight wagons.

Tickets cost 6 euros for adults and 3 euros for children. The museum is open March through November, Tuesday to Friday from 10AM to 5PM. On Sundays, visitors can frequent the museum and a locomotive or two from 10AM to 5PM. A historic rail bus shuttle even provides a connection to public transportation at the Bochun-Dahlhausen S-Bahnhof on Sundays.
