Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art was founded in 1989 as a showcase of Western and Native American art and cultural objects. It contains one of the premier collections of its kind in the world and features works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keeffe and Charles Russell. The Mihtohseenionki – the museum’s primary gallery – explores Indiana’s indigenous peoples through various exhibits. Other galleries feature art and artifacts from across America, including pottery, apparel and woodcarvings.

Apart from its extensive galleries, the Eiteljorg also contains the Sky City Café, the Nina Mason Pulliam Education Center, an outdoor garden and event space. Open hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Public tours take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and admission to the museum is just $8.00 for adults with lower prices for senior citizens, children and students (October 2009). Visitors to the Indianapolis area should be sure to spend some time at the Eiteljorg Museum, whether passing through for just a few hours or purchasing hotel packages through the Sheraton sponsored by the museum.
