Located in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia, the El Nuevo Dorado International Airport is the most active cargo airport in all of Latin America and one of the busiest in terms of passenger traffic. Yearly, some 13.5 million passengers pass through the doors of the El Nuevo Dorado International Airport; it is the principal international gateway for the country.

The airport receives flights from a wide variety of airlines, and furthermore it is a regional hub for Avianca (Colombia's flagship airline), AeroRepublica, Aires, EasyFly and several cargo carriers. It also recieves flights from major international airlines such as Delta, Continental, Air France, American, and Iberia Airlines.

With the airport sitting on the western outskirts of the city of Bogota, it is not a far trip in car or bus to reach several different hotels such as the Hotel La Fontana, the Sheraton Bogota Hotel, the Hobitel Hotel, or the Hotel Casa Medina.

The airport fee for El Nuevo Dorado International Airport is set (as of September 2009) at $33. There are two separate terminals, the most recent of which was opened for operations in 1981. The principal terminal, however, was built in 1959.
