El Sardinero Stadium

Estadio El Sardinero is a multi-purpose stadium located in Santander , Spain. It is the home ground for the football team Racing de Santander and was built in 1988.

It is located right next to the Palacio de Deportes de Santander and the Parque de la Vaguada of Flames, next to the famous beaches of El Sardinero. The stadium has 5 stands (above) and 4 preferences (lower) and an area behind the south corners of preference for members of opposing teams. The seats from the preference are white, while those in the gallery are blue, honoring the flag of Santander. Currently the stadium has 22,222 seats. The pitch dimensions are 105x68 feet. Throughout each of the two sidebands of the field is a ditch, built to prevent public access to the field but without removing visibility.

Due to the classification of Racing Santander in the UEFA Cup Challenge, the club had to undertake a series of reforms during the summer of 2008 to meet the minimum requirements necessary to hold official meetings of a European character. The tunnel has to be telescopic and from fireproofing material and the stadium lights must reach 1200 lux.

If the visitors are choosing the public transport to reach the stadium, they should know that bus lines 1, 2 and 6 are reaching the stadium. These buses can be taken from the city center or from the central train station.
