The southern Argentine province of Chubut, located within the very attractive region of the Patagonia, is a major international tourist destination, and most of the visitors to the province enter through the El Tehuelche Airport, located some five miles to the northwest of the city of Puerto Madryn, along the Atlantic Coast. El Tehuelche Airport is operated by the largest airport firm in the country, Aeropuerto Argentina 2000 S.A., while the facilities are owned by the provincial government.

There is one asphalt paved runway, and in total the airport takes up some 390 hectares of land. Currently, the only two airlines offering service to and from El Tehuelche Airport are LADE, the state-owned and military operated airline, and Andes Lineas Aereas, a private airline offering service mostly within the country. The airport terminal is fairly modest, with basic amenities including car rental, some food areas, and minimal retail services.
