Elblag Railway Station
Elblag Railway Station, which falls under the category C of Polish Railways, is located in the Warmia and Mazury, Poland. The station has three covered platforms and those platforms are interconnected through an underground passage. Number of tracks passing through the station currently is five. Elblag-Zdroj Elblag and 204 Malbork – Mamonowo are the two lines which pass through the station as the other line Elblag-Myslice is currently dismantled.
This station is one of the oldest of the European Railway stations and it was opened in the year 1847 after two years of construction work starting from the year 1845. The station was previously named as Elbing. Recently, to adapt to the modern European standards, some reformations has been done both inside and outside the station. Various facilities like solarium, luggage storage, service outlets and kiosk outlets now can be found at the station premises itself.
In spite of not being a big station, it is no less when it comes to importance. The station is connected with various other important railway stations of Poland like Gdynia Central, Szczecin Central, Olsztyn Chief, Suwalki, Bialystoka (The capital of Poland) etc. The beautiful town of Malbork is also at a few Kilometers distance from the Elblag Railway Station. Hotel Gromada Elblag, Hotel Pod Lwem, Atrium Hotel are the most famous hotels nearby the station. The nearest airport to the station is Lech Walesa Airport (GDN), buses can be availed to go to the airport. The bus stop is at a few minutes of walking distance from the station.
