Located at Perth Avenue in Yarralumla approximately four kilometers from Canberra, The Embassy of France is where the Ambassador of France to Australia holds office. The Ambassador is the personal envoy of the President of France to the Australian Commonwealth.

It is the Council of Ministries who appoints the Ambassador, whose role it is then to represent the Head of State, all the Ministers and the Government.

The Ambassador is vested by the State’s authority to direct all the work of the sections of the Embassy as well as the government of France’s Australian agencies. Current developments in Australia are also informed by the Ambassador to the French government.
