The historic Embassy Theater dates back to 1928 and is one of the most distinctive venues in the city of Fort Wayne. Originally opened as a vaudeville theater (called “the Emboyd”) and movie palace, the building has undergone many transformations over the years.

In its early days the theater was buzzing with some of the most famous names in show business. Cab Calloway, Chico Marx, Duke Ellington, Perry Como and Red Skelton all graced the stage in that time period. Bob Hope got his first emcee gig at the Emboyd. The biggest moment in its history was being saved from demolition in the 1970s. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the theater features Broadway plays on national tour, chamber music and rock concerts, lectures and seminars, movies and more. It is also home to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

Parking is available free on the streets surrounding the theater at every evening and night performance. Paid attended parking is also available in the local garages. Admission to events varies (see website for ticket and pricing on a specific event).

Besides the seven-story Indiana hotel on theater grounds, accommodations in the area include the Holiday Inn on 300 E. Washington, the Hilton in the Grand Wayne Center and the Worthington Mansion Bed and Breakfast at 805 W. Wayne Street.
