Stretching almost twelve hundred acres on the shores of Lake Austin, Emma Long Metropolitan Park has long been a summer haven for locals in the Austin Area. The park boasts a generously sized white sandy beach and pristine swimming area. It also maintains two full sized beach volleyball courts and two ramps for boaters. For day users, there are great amenities such as hot showers and public restrooms. For those desiring to stay a bit longer, there are 46 tent sites and 20 camping sites with water and electricity hookups. Camping at Emma Long Metropolitan Park is perfect for those who enjoy roughing it a bit, or those who prefer to bring some of the modern comforts of home as they travel. Yet whether one is simply visiting for a relaxing day, or making a week out of it, amenities such as the large picnic area, and availability of ice and firewood, ensure that guests can comfortably prepare and serve meals anytime of day. The park is open from 7 a.m. To 10 p.m., and entrance fees are $5 per car on weekdays, $8 on weekends. Camping with utilities costs $15, without, just $6.
