While many of the other Disney attractions focus on creating adventures based around events of the past, Epcot Center has always had its eye on the future. More than just the future, Epcot focuses on where technology might go, and the park's rich imagination captivates millions of visitors each year, making it close to the top of the list of the most-visited theme parks in the entire world.

Epcot Center was initially going to be Walt Disney's special pet project, an urban community of the future where everyone lives in contented community. However, after passing away, those in charge at Disney did not want to take on the task of maintaining an actual community, especially one based on somewhat lofty and intellectual principles, and got back to planning an actual theme park.

Today, visitors to Epcot can enjoy the attractions of both Future World and World Showcase, the separate parts of Epcot Center. Future World's numerous pavilions are based on different exciting discoveries, all dependent on technology. From the reaches of outer space to the depths of the sea, there's a pavilion at Future World dedicated to some exciting scientific mission.

World Showcase, on the other hand, is more interested in exploring the differences and similarities in countries, sort of a more highbrow take on "It's a Small World." Eleven different countries are represented, each with recreations of typical architecture and cultural activities.

In addition to the different rides and exhibitions, Epcot Center also hosts a number of popular annual events, from a celebration of different holidays from different cultures called Holidays Around the World once a year to an exciting gardening exposition called The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.

The closest hotels to Epcot Center are actually located in nearby resorts, such as Disney's BoardWalk Villas over at the neighboring Disney's BoardWalk.
