Erfurt is a medieval town that is situated in central Germany; it is the capital of the region of Thuringia’s. Town hall (Rathaus) in German actually means council house and it is commonly known as town hall or city hall. Rat means council i.e. German ruling or advisory council and the word is derived from another word raten which means ‘to advise’.
