Estadio Azteca

Estadio Azteca or Azteca Stadium is a world class football stadium located in Mexico City, Mexico. It was designed by architect Pedro Ramirez Vazquez and it opened on May 29th, 1966. The stadium lays on top of the extinct volcano Xitle. It can hold up to 105,000 spectators. A number of world famous matches were played there including the infamous 1986 quarter final between Argentina and England in which player Diego Maradona scored his ‘hand of God’ goal. The stadium has hosted two Word Cup Championships, a Women’s World Cup, Olympic Events, and Panamerican games among other things. Azteca has also been used for concerts, e.g. Michael Jackson, The Three Tenors, Gloria Estefan and Lenny Kravitz. The parking lot has room for 4,850 vehicles.
