With most attractions in Athens pertaining to ancient Greek history, a respite from the ruins may be needed. The National Historical Museum, or Ethniko Istoriko Mouseio in Greek, presents a museum focused not upon ancient Greece but rather Modern Greek history.

The National Historical Museum contains collections highlighting the phases of Neo-Hellenism, going from the fall of Constantinople in the 15th century onward. Established by the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece, the museum was formed to collect, save, and present relics and documentary evidence relating to Modern Greek history.

Visitors can find the museum in the old parliament building at Stadiou Street in Athens. The building housed Greek parliament from 1875 to 1932. Tickets cost 3 euros and the museum remains open Tuesday through Sunday from 9AM to 2PM.
