Everson Museum of Art

Hotels near Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse (New York), United States .

The Everson Museum of Art, which has been in its present location 401 Harrison Street since 1968, actually has its roots in the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts, dating back to 1897. Designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, the museum is well known for its distinctive feeling of being a work of art itself, surrounded by city life and forms. Visitors to the museum are struck with a sense of questioning and seeking, as the edifice itself does not seem to be just a container for other works of art. Special collections housed in the museum include ceramic arts, a special highlight of which being 32 Robineau porcelain pieces, in addition to the museum's many famous paintings. These paintings span the years between the Colonial period and the present day, and include such historically significant pieces as The Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hick, the Portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart, and Corn Husking by Eastman Johnson.

The museum is open from noon to 6 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, and from noon to 9 PM on Thursday and Friday.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $15.

Nearby hotels include the Holiday Inn-Carrier Circle and the Microtel Inn.
