Aachen Hauptbahnhof
Aachen Hauptbahnhof, also known like Aachen Hbf (short form) is the central train station of Aachen, situated far to the west of Germany, very close to Belgian and Dutch border.

The era of the railway began in Aachen on 1 September 1841 with the opening of the route from Cologne to Aachen through the Rhenish Railway Company. With the extension of the route to Herbesthal at the Belgian border and the continuation went to Antwerp on 15 October 1843, the first cross-border railway line in operation. The first station of the Rhenish railway was built in classical style, outside the city walls in the open field. The growth of the city surrounded the building within a short time. Thus, it came through the ground-level tracks and more often to difficulties with the increasing traffic. Therefore, the Prussian State Railways decided to establish a new central station. In 1901 the work began on the new reception building. The first involved extensive dam embankments and new bridges.

The Aachen Hauptbahnhof is the largest of the four active stations which make the connections keep the long-distance trains Thalys (from Cologne Main Station via Liege and Brussels to Paris Gare du Nord) and ICE (Frankfurt (Main) Hbf / Cologne Hbf-Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid) and the commuter lines RE 1 (NRW-Express) , RE 4 (Wupper-Express), RE 9 (Rhein-Sieg-Express), RB 20 (euregiobahn), RE 29 (EuregioAIXpress) and RB 33 (Rhein-Niers train). With the exception of euregiobahn all these transport routes finish in the Aachen central station. Also stops here Mon-Sat, the ICE 545 to Berlin Düren, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Bochum, Dortmund, Hamm, Bielefeld, Hannover.
