For a vast majority of travelers heading to Buenos Aires, the first thing they see will be Ministro Pistarini International Airport, or as it is more commonly known, Ezeiza International Airport, since it's located in the suburban city of Ezeiza, only about a half-hour cab ride from downtown Buenos Aires.

The largest airport in Argentina, Ezeiza Airport is also the transportation hub for all international flights, meaning that unless you're arriving in Buenos Aires from a sun-drenched weekend in Punta del Este, you'll be going through this airport. Another airport, Jorge Newbury Airport, is located in the neighborhood of Palermo, in Buenos Aires proper, but only handles domestic flights.

The airport was built in the 1940s and has recently undergone expansion with the addition of new terminals. A number of worldwide airlines fly in and out daily, including Alitalia, British Airways, Copa Airlines, as well as States-based Continental and United Airlines. The airport is one of the busiest in all of South America, and handles millions of international passengers each year.

While a number of hotel options do exist around the airport, your best bet as an international traveler is to pick a hotel in a neighborhood you like and want to get acquainted with, and talk to them about arranging a car (remis) or taxi to take you to te airport wen it's time to depart. The best spot at Ezeiza Airport to catch a ride into Buenos Aires is at the remis stands after customs but before you're in the arrival hall, as it helps avoid any haggling that might take place at the taxi stand.
