The Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Drawing thousands of visitors from around the world all year long, it is the largest genealogical library in the world and contains copies of millions of original records.

The library’s original purpose was to provide genealogical information to members of the Mormon Church. Since its 1894 beginnings, however, the library has grown and now contains over 2.2 million rolls of microfilmed records. It is now Salt Lake’s premier tourism attraction.

Hours of operation of the Family History Library are Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free of charge. Interested parties should take a look at the library’s website at www.utah.com/mormon/family_history.htm.
