The Aalborg Historical Museum is situated in the city of Aalborg, Denmark. The museum is a historical and cultural museum in the city of Aalborg in Denmark and was established in 1863. The Aalborg Historical Museum was organized to provide a clear educative history of the city and the surrounding region for the past 1000 years. The Aalborg Historical Museum was established in 1863 making it one of the earliest regional museums in Denmark. The museum was constructed in 1878 and expanded in the early 1890s and houses the growing collection of items from the region's earliest inhabitants to modern times. There is a large collection of clothing and textiles items dating back form the 1700s to the present day. Both in 1994 and 1995 the museum conducted excavations at the site of the Greyfriars Friary in central Aalborg. After the excavations the underground Gråbrødre Museum was instituted.
